Clear glass allows all light from the visual spectrum to penetrate as well as UV-B rays, which accelerate the decay of the plant at the molecular level, lowering levels of THC and CBD, the main psychoactive elements of marijuana.
Our violet jars filter the spectrum, blocking visible light and filtering UV-B rays while allowing UV-A and infra-red rays to penetrate. This provides the optimum conditions for organic matter, such as cannabis, to be preserved for months or years, with no deterioration in appearance, potency, taste or odour.
Violet jars are the only jars that do this. Other coloured glass such as black or opaque, green or amber/brown will not produce the same results. Black glass blocks the visible spectrum but also blocks UV-A. Green and blue glass allow all light rays to penetrate. Amber or brown glass allows the visible part of the spectrum to penetrate while blocking AV-A.

Since first manufactured nearly a decade ago, our UV violet glass jars have been tested both under scientific conditions and in practical situations, in the storage of organic matter including herbs and spices, honey, drinking water, oils, cereals, fruits and rose water. It provides optimum conditions for not only the preservation but also an improvement in the quality of these substances over time.
Storage test with tomatoes
In order to more easily prove the quality protection given to food stored in MIRON violet glass, a microbiological experiment was carried out with cherry tomatoes. During this test, a cherry tomato was stored for 7 months in a white glass and in a MIRON violet glass, and then kept at room temperature where sunlight could reach it. The result was photographed after 7 months. The microbiological changes of the tomato stored in white glass can be clearly seen. The tomato stored in MIRON violet glass however shows no loss of color and no signs of drying out.
